A story to start

Tanuja is 29 and tests software for a large company in Hyderabad. Release weeks are the worst. A bug turns up at 7 p.m., her manager pings her on chat, and her heart starts racing before she has even opened the message. By the time she reaches home in Gachibowli traffic, her jaw aches and her mind keeps replaying the day. She lies awake until 1 a.m. and wakes up tired.

One evening her cousin shows her a breathing trick: two quick breaths in through the nose, then one long breath out through the mouth. Tanuja tries it in the office washroom the next day, just before a tense bug triage call. Her shoulders drop a little. It does not fix the bug, but she speaks more calmly and thinks more clearly.

Encouraged, she adds a few more habits. She sits on her balcony with filter coffee and morning sun. She does a 20-minute rest recording after lunch on bad days. She even tries a cold bucket bath twice a week, gasping and laughing at herself. Release weeks are still stressful. But now Tanuja has tools for the hard moments, and the small pings no longer hijack her whole evening.
