About Me
Hello, I'm Anahita Tanwar
RCI Licensed Clinical Psychologist
How I came to this work
My father's job moved us often: five cities and eight schools. When you are the new girl that many times, friendship stops being something that just happens to you. I had to work out what it took, and it was never the same twice. Some people let me in on the first day. Some took months. Who I was in each school depended a lot on who was sitting next to me.
So I paid attention. I learnt what a real apology sounds like, and how different it is from “sorry, okay?” I learnt to tell when someone was angry even while they were saying “I'm fine.” More importantly, pushing never brought anyone's walls down. Being safe did, slowly.
I didn't know it then, but I was already studying people. That curiosity took me to psychology, and to my research on intimate bonds and why rejection hurts some of us so much more than others. I still listen the same way: to what a person says, and to what they mean. I am now training further in couples therapy. This is the work I want to spend my life understanding more deeply.

Which relationship brought you here?
With yourself
The inner critic. Feelings that arrive too fast and take up too much space. The worry that won't switch off. The heaviness that won't lift.
With a partner
The same argument on repeat. The distance. Betrayal. An ending you can't make sense of. The fear of starting again.
With family
Parents, siblings, in-laws. The role you were given at home and are still playing.
With your past
Things that happened long ago, but still shape how you react, what you expect, and what you fear today.
With the wider world
Bosses and authority. Belonging. Faith. The pressure to be someone. And the question of what it is all for.
